sssLife is the iOS version of a simulation game created by British mathematician John Horton Conway.

It is a universal application, available for iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, iPad mini, and iPad Pro.

Attention: The app is fixed in portrait mode for iPhone and iPod touch (1 direction) and in landscape mode for iPad and iPad mini (2 directions). It does not support SplitView.

• Toolbar
• The toolbar at the top of the screen can be shown or hidden by tapping on the screen.

• Drawing Cells
• With the pencil icon on the toolbar set to ◯ (tapping changes it to ×), tracing on the screen will create cells along the path. The thickness of tracing depends on pressure (if 3D touch supported, it can be very smooth).
• Tapping the random button on the toolbar will fill the screen with cells randomly.

• Zooming/Scrolling
• Tapping the arrow icons on the four sides of the toolbar enables pinch in/out and scrolling on the screen. Note that screen coarseness during zoom is intentional.
• Tapping these icons again or the pencil icon will disable this feature.

• Erasing Cells
• With the pencil icon on the toolbar set to × (changing it to ◯ by tapping), tracing on the screen will eliminate cells along the path. Tracing thickness can be customized in settings.
• Tapping the clear button in the toolbar will remove all cells.

• Miscellaneous Cell Functions
• You can pause/resume cell movements with the play/stop button on the toolbar.
• Tapping the lightning bolt icon when there is at least one cell on screen will have an effect on 5% of cells due to a divine judgment.

• Custom Cells
• Press and hold on the screen to place custom cells like static objects, oscillators, glider guns, or breeders, with data sources referenced on external sites. Custom cell files can be imported through various formats with specific limitations.

• Status Display
• The toolbar displays current rule settings, generation count, FPS, live cell count, CPU load, and memory usage. Some information can be toggled off by tapping on the screen.

• Cell Settings
• You can adjust cell movement speed and loop behavior within settings. Customizations include boundary visibility, color schemes for cells and borders with adjustable alpha values.

• Rules & Add-ons
• Rules for Life Game are highly customizable beyond default values. There's also a paid add-on to remove ads.

Note: The benchmark feature no longer serves as an accurate benchmark due to CPU limitations since iOS12.
